Develop the skills to lead and manage with confidence

Successful leaders are highly valued across all industries and possess a combination of skills and qualities that enable them to effectively lead and motivate their team towards success.

Effective leaders continuously strive to further develop their own capabilities, and this course is suited to:
•    Recently appointed leaders or managers wanting to develop strong foundations in leadership and management
•    Experienced leaders or managers looking to consolidate and be formally recognised for their leadership and management capabilities

Designed for busy professionals, this course will be delivered through a program of skill sets.
You'll need to be working in a leadership or management role, such as a frontline leader, team leader, supervisor, program coordinator, project leader or manager and, have supervisory responsibility for a minimum of two team members.

Comprised of six skill sets, the program provides you with flexibility to choose to do:

  • Only the skill sets that are most important to you,
    or
  • All six skill sets, achieving the whole qualification - depending on your other commitments, it may be possible to do this within six months.

Completion of each skill set will see you gain a Statement of Attainment while after successfully completing all of these skill sets, you'll be able to apply for the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.

To enrol in this program, it is important that you can meet the following requirements:
•    Currently working in a leadership or management role with supervisory responsibility for a minimum of two team members
•    Computer skills to confidently access online resources and complete workplace documents
•    A reasonable level of oral and written English to complete written assessments, workplace documents, workplace meetings and role plays

 

If this course is deemed competitive, you will be informed during your application via TAFE Admissions and additional entrance requirements will apply.

School Leaver Non-School Leaver AQF
C Grades in Year 11 WACE General English, and OLNA; or NAPLAN 9 Band 8 C Grades in Year 11 English and Maths or equivalent Certificate II or Certificate III

It is important that you are currently working in a leadership or management role and have supervisory responsibility for a minimum of two team members. You may currently be employed as a frontline leader, team leader, supervisor, program coordinator, project leader or manager. 
 

The skill sets will be delivered in six 1-day workshops on campus, please see the individual skill set pages listed and linked above for intake dates.
Workshops will be run from 9:00am - 4:30pm.
You'll then need to complete assessments in your workplace.
Typically these assessments will be due up to 9 weeks after each workshop, although you can complete them in a much shorter time frame. Alternatively, if you need more time to finish the required work, please discuss with your lecturer.

You'll need to be working in a leadership or management role and have supervisory responsibility for a minimum of two team members..

Skill sets provide specific workplace skills and are made up of one or more units of competency linked to industry needs.
When enrolling in this course can you either enrol in either in one or more skill set/s, or all six skill sets to gain the full qualification. 

Each skill set will be delivered through a one day workshop plus assessments to be completed in your workplace, so you should have the support of your employer and be able to allocate time to complete assessments

At the completion of each skill set, you will receive a Statement of Attainment.
If you successfully complete all six (6) skill sets, you can apply for a certificate: BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.

This qualification is suitable for people seeking:
•    additional leadership responsibilities within their current role or current industry
•    additional leadership responsibilities in a new role or new industry
•    opportunities for more senior leadership roles
