If you've completed a Health related Certificate III (or higher) qualification, this specialised Podiatry Assistant skill set will enhance your skills and help improve your employability.

After successful completion you may gain employment working alongside podiatrists and other allied health professionals to provide support to a range of people needing therapeutic and basic foot care as well as people living with foot problems associated with chronic health conditions.

You'll attend campus for a two week intensive face-to-face delivery with the opportunity to gain practical skills at a health clinic before completing a minimum of 120 hours of practical experience in the form of a 3 week full-time placement.

This course is aimed at beauty therapists who have either completed the waxing units SHBBHRS001 Provide waxing services and SHBBFAS001 Provide lash and brow services or had extensive experience using waxing techniques while working in a beauty or hair removal salon. You will need to demonstrate your ability to consult with clients to plan services to apply and remove hot and strip wax safely.

If you are an Enrolled Nurse who is currently working in a health care environment, you can gain the skills required to administer medicines and intravenous therapy by completing this skill set which covers Nationally Accredited unit HLTENN007 Administer and monitor medicines and intravenous therapy. This comprehensive unit covers all aspects of medication administration including a variety of methods; oral, otic, ocular, topical, rectal, vaginal, enteral, subcutaneous (subcut), intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV) injection and infusion via a PIVC and blood and blood products, amongst others. The unit consists of online theory and a series of workshops, simulated assessments and workplace competencies.

Any registered enrolled nurse may enrol in the unit; there are no prerequisites and no need for specific experience (full unit enrolment). There are different entry points if you already have the formal qualifications and experience in administering some medications (partial unit enrolment).

The Aged Care Standards highlight the importance of people in aged care settings having the right to choose what they do and how they live, despite the fact that these lifestyle choices may come with risk. You'll learn how to understand the risks involved and help to support those in your care with the choices they make.
