Leederville is part of Boorloo boodja (land), and is named after William Leeder, the first white landowner in the area.Â
Located in the heart of Leederville, our campus is close to cafes, restaurants, shops and is just a short walk from the train station.
This campus has a special focus on human services, with training offered in community services, education, early childhood care, aged care, disability services, youth work and mental health.
Our creative music students also learn at this campus in our industry standard professional recording studio and live performance venue with full staging, lighting and sound production. We even host our very own student radio station, BOOM Radio, from this campus.

The campus is only a short walk from Leederville train station.
No student parking is available on campus grounds although there is all day paid parking available on Richmond Street, and free three-hour parking on Loftus Street.
ACROD parking bays are available off Richmond and Oxford Streets.
Please note parking on college grounds (other than in ACROD parking bays) can incur a fine.
Students and staff wishing to use the ACROD parking bays must display a valid ACROD parking permit on their vehicle.
Bicycle racks are provided on the campus, but please make sure you lock your bike. We do​ not accept liability for stolen or damaged bikes and/or accessories.

North Metropolitan TAFE is excited to be offering this course as part of a dual qualification designed specifically for adults (18 years and over) who want to improve their reading, writing and employability skills. The Maths and English covered in the Certificate II in General Education for Adults is approximately equivalent to Year 10 level and when successfully completed this course will meet the entry requirements for most Certificate III TAFE courses or employment.

Certificate III in Dental Assisting

If you’ve ever thought about being a part of this essential profession then this is the perfect qualification to get you started.
As a Dental Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing the surgery, assisting the dentist chairside, processing and sterilising all of the instruments and cleaning the surgery. You will also develop skills in reception work and the management of supplies.
On successful completion of your Certificate III in Dental Assisting, you will have skills and experience relevant to current industry standards, trends and practices.
From semester 2, 2023, North Metropolitan TAFE's Dental courses are located within our newly fitted out dental department at our conveniently located Leederville campus.
As a part of this qualification, you will have the opportunity to take part in work placements at private dental practices, other dental organisations or at the OHCWA, giving you real experience in the industry in both privately run and government facilities.
Employer-based delivery (part-time)
If you are a Dental Assistant currently working chairside in a dental surgery, you may be able to complete this course by studying part-time, attending classes one day per week and incorporating workplace assessments. You will need the support of your employer to be eligible.

You'll learn how to interact and foster the development of the children while working within legal requirements and ensuring the children's health and safety are not at risk.

This diploma will provide you with the skills and knowledge to manage the operation of a child care service where you would be responsible for planning, implementing and managing programs in early childhood services (0-5 years), in accordance with licensing, accreditation and duty of care requirements. You would also supervise staff and volunteers.
During this course you will learn to provide care and meet the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of infants and young children in various care settings.
As part of this qualification you will undertake ongoing work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned. You will work closely with children from different backgrounds and cultures and provide care and support for them.
In most states this is the highest qualification required at director or service manager level for children's service centre based care and education.

This course will be delivered through a combination of online and on campus training.
The online delivery will be done via Collaborate sessions (on Blackboard), which are live classes facilitated by a lecturer. The majority of the training will be delivered via on campus sessions. Class attendance is required for successful completion of the course.

The Diploma of Music Industry (Performance) will provide you with instrumental/vocal technique and performance skills, music literacy and aural training and music analysis. You'll acquire the skills to perform in an ensemble, and develop a repertoire and original material in bands/ensembles which is recorded in our in-house recording studios.
You will learn how to incorporate technology into music composition and manage your intellectual property.

Assist the teaching staff to help children learn
You'll develop the skills and knowledge to support teachers and provide care and supervision for children from kindergarten to Year 12.
Develop the skills and knowledge to assist teaching staff
This course will provide you with a customised program in learning support to prepare you for roles such as an education assistant working in a school. You will learn to provide support to a classroom teacher for children from kindergarten to Year 12.
As part of this qualification you will undertake a supervised work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned in a classroom setting. Students are required to obtain a Working with Children Check and a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (Education Department WA) before attending the work placement.Â
You the opportunity to complete the Certificate III in School Based Education either through full-time study on campus over 6 months or part-time online over 12 months. The online delivery will be done via Collaborate sessions (on Blackboard), which are live classes run online with a lecturer taking you through the training.

The Certificate IV in School Based Education Support will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist the teaching staff in schools and provide care, instruction and supervision in kindergarten, pre-primary, primary and secondary school.
This course is also available online, which is a little different to on-campus study as you do not have face to face contact with your lecturers. If on-campus study is not your preference, then online study is a great option. You will be supported by your online lecturers and completing your course via an online platform which contains all your study material and assessments. You will be provided a login and password to access this material once you have been enrolled at North Metropolitan TAFE.
No matter how you choose to study, as part of this qualification you will need to undertake a supervised work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned in a classroom setting. You'll develop a wide skill set in a supportive environment in all aspects of the radio industry, inclusive of on-air, news, marketing, podcasting, digital, and management skills.
Real-time learning means being part of a team that runs a real radio station, our own BOOM Radio, giving you a chance to develop industry networks, and practical experience.Â

The lecturing staff have extensive industry links and actively provide industry work placement and networking opportunities for students.
