Baking and Patisserie

Whether you want to delve into the details of making bread or to become a master of cake decorating, our baking and patisserie programs will set off your career.

You will learn to make a range of breads, pastries and cakes using baking equipment and machinery in fully-equipped, professional facilities. You will also learn to work safely and effectively, and to monitor operational processes in the retail baking sector.

Commercial Cookery

Approved by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS), North Metropolitan TAFE’s commercial cookery qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to become a qualified chef.

The program is updated with guidance from a group of industry leaders, ensuring you learn the latest, most relevant practices.

You will develop the practical skills and knowledge to plan, organise, prepare and cook food in a commercial kitchen environment. Upon completion of our course, you will be able to work in various kitchen settings, such as restaurants, hotels, pubs, cafes and cruise ships.

Events

Studying event management at North Metropolitan TAFE will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist in the coordination of festivals, meetings, events, functions and exhibitions.

You will develop skills in customer service, computing and administrative procedures, and learn how to organise functions, create displays, coordinate registrations and prepare quotes.
