In the meantime the information below provides an indication of the time commitment required to complete this course, depending on available study options. The course is designed to balance formal learning and practical application of skills.
This course consists of 12 units which, when delivered full-time on campus, will take 1 semester (6 months).
On campus
Learning takes place in classrooms, computer labs, our simulated workplace based in Perth and online.
Where computers are an essential part of the training, classes will be scheduled in a computer lab.
When timetabled in the Simulated Workplace, students are required to bring their own laptops (referred to BYOD - Bring Your Own Device).
A typical week for a full-time load includes:
• 4 days of classes per week
• Classes start at either 8:30am or 9:00am and finish between 3:00pm - 5:00pm (earlier on Friday)
• Classes will be delivered both on campus and online at specified times – this provides you with the opportunity to develop working-from-home skills
The course is available part-time, and will involve 2 - 3 days on campus. You will be enrolling in 6 of 12 units each semester, taking you a minimum of one year to complete the course. Other part-time options may be possible, please discuss this with staff.
Online
This will be fully online with a focus on self-directed online learning and assessment materials, supported with online lectures and meetings. To guide your progress, your lecturers will provide a learning and assessment plan (LAP) that outlines sessions, activities and assessment due dates.
Lecturers will be available to answer questions during business hours, and at other times by appointment.
Online delivery can take up to three years to complete, depending on your other commitments. Please note that if you are unable to complete units when they are offered, it is likely to delay your course completion, or a new version of the course may be released necessitating transfer of credits.
To complete the course within 18 months, you'll need to:
- Attend regularly to scheduled online sessions
- Spend 4 - 6 hours per week individual study
- Complete 4 units per semester (6 months)
To spread the course over three years, you'll need to:
- Attend regularly to scheduled online sessions
- Spend approximately 2 - 3 hours per week individual study
- Complete 2 units per semester (6 months)
Timetable information is indicative only and subject to change.
Study outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research will be required to successfully complete your course.
Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.
As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.
