This assessment tool is used for entrance into competitive courses like North Metropolitan TAFE's Diploma of Nursing and Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology and Practice. To gain entry into the Diploma of Nursing or the Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology, you will need to achieve Exit level 3 (working at level 4) scores or higher. It is also used to determine suitability for a VET Student Loan to assist with paying for study in Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses.
Our Basic Key Skills Builder and English Testing Support Skill Set provides you with the opportunity to develop your skills and prepare for the BKSB assessment. You'll be able to learn and practice the required skills before sitting for the test.
You can start classes at any time during the year, participate for as many weeks as you need and you can attend one, or both of the available classes depending on your needs.
English Language Testing Support
The English Language Testing support class provides support and exercises to develop the four testing areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing. This class is suitable for all students seeking to improve their English skills and will support you in your preparation for one of the approved English language tests, in addition to preparing for the English component of the BKSB.
For entry into the Diploma of Nursing, English proficiency testing e.g. IELTS is required for all students that did not complete their secondary studies in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Northern Ireland, UK, USA or Canada.
BKSB Testing Support
The BKSB Testing Support class will give you access to Maths and English practice tests, quizzes, learner guides and other resources. This class will support you to effectively prepare for the maths component of BKSB testing.

COVID-19 Collection Skill Set

The COVID-19 Collection skill set will give you the skills and knowledge required to collect, prepare and dispatch a pathology specimen for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing — a technique used to copy small segments of DNA and to diagnose infections such as COVID-19.

It includes learning to work in compliance with infection prevention and control policies and procedures.

Class G Gas Fitting Permit (Unsupervised) Skill Set
LEnhance your scope of employment in the plumbing and gas industries
Two weeks of full-time study and 250 hours recorded gasfitting will provide you with the necessary requirements to work unsupervised insatlling, testing and commissioning Type A gas appliances for both Natural and LPG gas.
Complete the requirements to be able to sign off on gas installations.
This course covers the design and size customer gas installations for domestic and commercial proprieties, caravan and marine craft installations for both Natural and LPG gas.
It is a theoretical based qualification only but you must have recorded 250 hours of gasfitting work which was completed under the supervision of a person holding a full Class G Gasfitting Permit.
Completion of this course and the 250 hours of recorded gasfitting (completed in the workplace) will allow you to apply to DMIRS (Energy Safety) for your Class G Gasfitting Permit which will then allow you to 'sign off' gas installations using the DMIRS - 'Notice of Completion'.

You will be introduced to the fundamentals of drones, photography and video using some of the latest technologies and facilities. Practice your camera and video flying skills in one of Perth's only indoor training facilities before venturing to more scenic locations. You will also be introduced to the post-production skills required to enhance your photography and video.
Drones are supplied or you can bring your own drone to fine tune and practice on.
