Get the help you need to achieve your goals before sitting the BKSB test

BKSB® (Basic Key Skills Builder) is a Commonwealth approved online assessment tool that provides an overview of your learning strengths and determines your English and mathematics levels.

This assessment tool is used for entrance into competitive courses like North Metropolitan TAFE's Diploma of Nursing and Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology and Practice. To gain entry into the Diploma of Nursing or the Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology, you will need to achieve Exit level 3 (working at level 4) scores or higher. It is also used to determine suitability for a VET Student Loan to assist with paying for study in Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses.

Our Basic Key Skills Builder and English Testing Support Skill Set provides you with the opportunity to develop your skills and prepare for the BKSB assessment. You'll be able to learn and practice the required skills before sitting for the test.

You can start classes at any time during the year, participate for as many weeks as you need and you can attend one, or both of the available classes depending on your needs.

English Language Testing Support

The English Language Testing support class provides support and exercises to develop the four testing areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing. This class is suitable for all students seeking to improve their English skills and will support you in your preparation for one of the approved English language tests, in addition to preparing for the English component of the BKSB.

For entry into the Diploma of Nursing, English proficiency testing e.g. IELTS is required for all students that did not complete their secondary studies in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Northern Ireland, UK, USA or Canada.

BKSB Testing Support

The BKSB Testing Support class will give you access to Maths and English practice tests, quizzes, learner guides and other resources. This class will support you to effectively prepare for the maths component of BKSB testing.

This skill set will provide:

  • weekly online classes to practice, participate in tutorials and ask questions
  • access to maths and English practice tests
  • access to learner guides and other resources
  • access to online systems to extend practice
