Get the practical skills to assist with tasks such as maintaining and restoring natural and cultural places, or farmland. A triple qualification, adding the Certificate II in Horticulture and Certificate II in Landscaping is possible.

This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills program, through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession.

Get started on your career as a horticulturalist

This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to gain employment in the conservation and ecosystem management industry including weed management companies, native revegetation nurseries, local councils, and mining, horticulture and landscaping organisations.

You do not need to have any prior experience and this may be a great option if you are currently unemployed. All of our classes have extensive resources and are run by highly experienced lecturers. 

You may be able to attain a triple qualification, adding the Certificate II in Horticulture and Certificate II in Landscaping to this Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management by enrolling in additional units.

This qualification will allow you to develop a broad range of trade level skills and knowledge including:

  • Ecological restoration work
  • Identifying plants
  • Treat weeds and treat pests, diseases and disorders
  • Plant trees and shrubs
  • Operate basic machinery and equipment
  • Construct low- profile timber or modular retaining wall
  • Install aggregate paths
  • Operate basic machinery and equipment
