On campus

You will be required to attend campus 4 days per week from 9:00am - 4:00pm. The day comprises theory and hands on learning, such as in the liveworks clinic on campus and any external field placement activities/events.

Individuals who successfully complete this qualification are able to work in remedial massage practice as practitioners, may be self-employed as independent practitioners or may work within a larger health service

A North Metropolitan TAFE Diploma qualifies you for entry into undergraduate degrees at all WA universities.

Upon successful completion of HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage at NMTAFE, you will meet university entrance requirements and may be eligible for advanced standing/ credit into undergraduate Health Science, or Science degrees specialising in Exercise Science and Rehabilitation.  The major and minor subjects you choose to study as part of your degree will influence the amount of credit you will be awarded.  
Diploma qualifications may be awarded credit for up to 8 units, which is equivalent to a study reduction of 1 year at university.

Please note articulation agreements between NMT and individual universities may be subject to change and you should check with your preferred university for details.

Students must complete massage treatments (minimum 200 hours) in a clinical environment.

To achieve this you will complete hours within the liveworks clinic at the Perth campus. In addition, you will have the opportunity to attend external events and activities that model workplace conditions and reflect the role of a massage therapist.

During the course you will need to obtain your Senior First Aid certificate with a recognised training provider.

Please be aware that COVID-19 vaccination is an employment requirement for many healthcare providers. 
NMTAFE students undertaking work placements or who are required to attend a healthcare or community setting as part of their studies are advised to check directly with the healthcare provider regarding their policy settings around vaccination and proof of vaccination requirements.

Study outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research will be required to successfully complete your course.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.
