Do you want a career that could take you all over the world?

When you complete the Certificate IV in Hospitality you'll be able to work as a hospitality supervisor or team leader. ​​

This course is designed to deliver a broad range of hospitality service, sales and operational skills. On successful completion you will have the knowledge and skills to work and supervise effectively in the hospitality industry, holding a leadership role in the responsible service of alcohol, financial management, budget control, and enhanced customer service. 

You'll gain practical skills while training in The Pavilion Restaurant, NMTAFE's fine dining, à la carte training restaurant that is open to the public.

Half-price

This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills program, through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession.

^ You will pay half price for the tuition fees on the Lower fees, local skills qualifications, however other fees may apply such as Resource fees that are specific to your course. For full details see our Half price courses page.

If this course is deemed competitive, you will be informed during your application via TAFE Admissions and additional entrance requirements will apply.

C Grades in Year 11 WACE General English, and OLNA; or NAPLAN 9 Band 8 C Grades in Year 11 English and Maths or equivalent Certificate II or Certificate III

On campus

Orientation
You are required to attend orientation where important information will be provided regarding timetables and uniforms.

Attendance in class 
This course requires your attendance in class 4 days per week, consisting of 2 full days and 2 half days, across 2 semesters when studied full time.  

Attendance in The Pavilion Restaurant - Joondalup (Kendrew Crescent)
You will be required to attend work placement in our on-campus à la carte training restaurant to develop your practical skills and gain experience. Restaurant classes run until 10:00pm, 1 night per week.   

At-home study 

As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete additional study each week outside of scheduled classes, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.

All work placement for Hospitality students will be conducted in our on-campus Pavilion restaurant to develop your practical skills and experience. The Joondalup restaurant classes run until 10:00pm, 1 night per week.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.

The following uniform is required to be purchased at approximately $150.00:

  • Long Sleeve Business Shirt – White
  • NMTAFE Tie - black
  • Bib Apron - black
  • Student Polo Shirt – black/white including NMTAFE logo
  • Black Pants
  • Footwear – prices from $69.90

Students are responsible for purchasing their own uniform. Further information will be provided at Orientation.

Please note the prescribed North Metropolitan TAFE Student Uniforms are only available from Totally Workwear Stores.
