Please complete this form to register your interest to study a skill set at North Metropolitan TAFE.

You may be required to provide evidence of study and/or work history. If you have previously studied at North Metropolitan TAFE we can use your previous studies to support your application but you must provide your Student ID number.

Once you have registered and provided evidence, we will assess your suitability to the course and provide you with further instructions for enrolment based on the next available intake.

If your course is not scheduled to run soon, has reached the maximum quota of students, or has not reached the required minimum number to run, we will keep your information on file and contact you when the course is next available for enrolment.

Who can access the free Job Ready skill sets?

The WA State Government, through Jobs and Skills WA, subsidises vocational education and training (VET) courses in priority areas, to reduce or remove the fees and make training more accessible to all Western Australians.

From 1 January 2023, the Job Ready skill sets are all 100% fee-free to people who have left school*, have their primary place of residence in Western Australia, and are either:

  • an Australian citizen; or
  • a permanent visa holder or holder of visa subclass 309, 444, 449, 785, 786, 790, or 820; or
  • a dependent or spouse of the primary holder of a visa subclass 457 or 482; or
  • a bridging visa holder who has made a valid application for a visa subclass 866; or
  • a Bridging Visa E holder (subclasses 050 and 051) who has made a valid application for a visa subclass 785 or 790.

* In 2023, Year 12 school students who are leaving school can access a subsidised training place from 23 October 2023.

Through to 31 December 2022 Job Ready skill sets available under Skills Ready are fee-free to the following concession - eligible residents of Western Australia.

  • Persons aged 15 — 24 years at the time of enrolment (excluding students enrolled at school*)
  • Persons and dependents of persons in receipt of services from Commonwealth support or employment services programs Workforce Australia, or ParentsNext
  • Persons and dependents of persons receiving the Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY 
  • Persons and dependents of persons holding a pensioner concession card or Health Care Card; or a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans' Affairs 
  • Dependents of persons who are inmates of a custodial institution

*In 2022, Year 12 school students who are leaving school can access a subsidised training place from 24 October 2022.

Acceptable proof of eligibility for free training for residents of Western Australia (and some temporary visa holders as above) may include a drivers licence, or other government document such as a passport.

 

Please submit documentation that meets the following requirements:

  • Completion of a tertiary education (degree or higher) where the language of instruction was English OR
  • English proficiency comparable or greater than NAATI’s requirements.

If you do not have relevant tertiary documentation then please supply evidence from one of the below approved NAATI English Proficiency Requirements. Current achievement levels can be found on the NAATI website  NAATI English Proficiency Level/Score

  • IELTS – International English Learning Testing System (General)
  • OET – Occupational English Test
  • TOEFL iBT – Test of English as  a Foreign Language (internet-based test)
  • PTE – Pearson Test of English (Academic)
  • CAE – Cambridge English Advanced Test
  • CPE – Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English
  • ISLPR – International Second Language Proficiency Ratings English Test

Artificial Intelligence Skill Set
It is recommended that you have one of the following:
  • Two years full-time experience in a programming or data related field;
  • ICT50220 Diploma of Information Technology (Advanced Programming), or equivalent;
  • Degree or partially completed degree in Information Technology from a higher educational institution.

Enrolled Nursing eligibility

To enrol in one of our Enrolled Nursing Skill Sets you must be a registered Enrolled Nurse who is currently practicing. To meet eligibility requirements please answer the questions below and submit required documents.

Are you currently practicing as an Enrolled Nurse?
As you are not practicing as an Enrolled Nurse you are not eligible to apply to study this Skill Set. Please visit our Nursing Courses  for more information on the entry requirements for these Skill Sets. You can also speak to the Jobs and Skill Centre for more advice and information on courses and training opportunities that are best suited for your study and career goals.

Your USI is a 10 digit number. Please note that enrolments are unable to be processed without a USI. You can create or retrieve your USI at www.usi.gov.au
If your USI fails in verification or you do not remember your number do you give NMTAFE permission to search for your USI on your behalf?
Please note, when we search to locate your USI number on your behalf you will receive a notification from the USI registry. We will only search for your USI once to ensure we can process your enrolment.

Concessions
Students eligible for Secondary School Aged Concession and Fee Caps due to their age do not need to supply additional concession evidence here. The concession and cap will be applied to your fees when we issue your enrolment quote.

Please note concession rates do not apply for all courses. We will confirm if concession is available for your chosen course upon enrolment. 
Concession cards must be valid and must have a start date on or before the commencement of the course. If your concession start date does not meet these criteria, you will not be eligible for concession fees as per the VET Fees and Charges Policy.
