Learn how to set up and work a live music PA system

Are you a musician wanting to know more about using PA systems?  In this skill set you'll learn how to assemble and operate a live music PA system. You'll also gain an understanding of the use of microphones, mixings desks, cabling, speakers and fx. You may also gain an overall deepening awareness of sound technology for music performance.

This course is also a great preparation for entering the Music Sound Production study at our Leederville campus.   

  • Live Sound Work Health & Safety including cable handling
  • Microphone types, placement and technique 
  • Cable and connectors, mic splitters and digital protocol 
  • Loudspeaker types, sound system processing and loudspeaker placement  
  • Stage Plots, equipment lists, line checks and soundchecks 
  • Tuning - for the room
  • Tuning and operating monitor speakers
  • In-ear monitors and wireless audio  
  • Mixing music and live recording
