Lead and supervise open cut mining operations
Study this course and gain the practical skills and knowledge to lead and supervise operations involved in the extraction of materials in an open cut mine.
This Diploma reflects the role of supervisors, site managers or project managers that are working towards a quarry manager role in an open cut mine or a quarry. On completion of this course you'll be able to perform tasks involving a broad range of varied activities most of which are complex and non-routine. You'll be able to manage the quantity and quality of the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to problems, and apply safety management plans to the workplace.
The preferred pathway into this qualification is through experience in a formal supervision role in the open pit area.

Please note that you must be employed as a senior supervisor in a mine site environment to enrol and complete this qualification.

Online delivery
This course is delivered online (using Blackboard) in four stages over two years. You must complete each stage within the 20 week enrolment period.
You will be required to complete assessments and assignments which may include workplace evidence submissions, third party reports, observation in the workplace.
At-home study
As well as the online component, you will need to complete additional study each week outside of classes, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.

To complete this qualification you must have the opportunity to provide evidence that you have applied the skills for all units in your work environment, and you are supported by your workplace for the completion of all the requirements including third party reports.
Once you have completed all requirements for all the units, a one day site visit must be arranged for a TAFE lecturer to observe you on site and verify workplace evidence. All costs for travel and accommodation are to be covered by you or your employer.
