Are you ready to make the world beautiful?

If you are passionate about the beauty industry and would like to obtain the most comprehensive, internationally recognised qualification available this course could be the perfect one for you!

You will gain the skills to start up your own business and to work in industry. You'll also learn the essentials of small business promotion to be successful in a very competitive market. Once qualified you could find yourself working at a day spa or salon.

We have two live clinics conveniently located in Perth and Joondalup. The course delivered in Joondalup will introduce you to a broad range of the beauty salon services and is run at our McLarty Avenue campus.

A valuable part of our course is ongoing practical demonstration of your skills, so you will be need to bring live models to class as required.

This course is also offered as a part-time evening course each semester.

  • Provide beauty services including:

    • Facials and make-up
    • Body massage and aromatherapy
    • Hair removal
    • Lash and brow treatments
    • Nail services
    • Spray tanning
  • Provide advice on beauty treatments and services
  • Retail skin care and cosmetic products
  • Coordinate a team

The part time course is open to new students every semester. Every semester there will be a selection of units offered as per the groups listed below.

The part-time course is designed for those who currently work in industry and would like to up-skill or for those who are wanting to start up their own business. Classes run for 24 months on a Monday and Wednesday night from  6.00pm – 9.30pm at the Joondalup (McLarty) Campus.

  • SHBBFAS005 Provide facial treatments and skin care recommendations
  • SHBBFAS006 Provide specialised facial treatments
  • SHBBSKS009 Provide micro-dermabrasion treatments

  • SHBXWHS003 Apply safe hygiene, health, and work practices
  • SHBBSSC001 Incorporate knowledge of skin structure and functions into beauty therapy

    If this course is deemed competitive, you will be informed during your application via TAFE Admissions and additional entrance requirements will apply.

    Completion of WACE General or ATAR (Minimum C Grades) or equivalent Completion of WACE General or ATAR or equivalent (minimum C Grades) Certificate III

    You can apply for this course directly, you do not need to have completed study in lower level Beauty qualifications.

    You'll be able to access your personal timetable (find out how on our Timetables page), once you have paid your fees.

    Supervised clinical hours to be completed in the Live-Works Beauty Clinic on campus.

    Study outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research will be required to successfully complete your course.

    Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential.
    If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

    As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.

    Other costs for consideration:
    • Uniform, which is part of the professional presentation that is required by industry.
    • Resource kits, which are essential for meeting assessment requirements.
