Our courses are recognised by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and will see you develop the necessary knowledge, skills and creativity to be a cutting-edge professional photographer.

You will learn all about composing, capturing, processing and enhancing images using various techniques. Our courses also cover production of digital images, camera techniques, lighting, studio and location work. You will also develop skills in business, publishing systems and markets, digital imaging, photographic illustration and be exposed to industrial, advertising, commercial, wedding/portraiture photography, fine art photography and photojournalism.

This qualification prepares you to work in the industry as a professional photographer, providing you with practical skills and knowledge in the areas of high-level image capture, sophisticated post-production skills, business development and creative thinking skills. A range of photography techniques are covered during the course including drone operation, VR, alternative process (wet darkroom), video and multimedia.

You'll need a film camera and an interest in producing traditional B&W prints to get the most of this skill set.

You'll need a 35mm film camera and an interest in producing traditional black and white prints to get the most of this skill set. You will learn with lecturers who are experienced photographers and develop your skills in our functional teaching darkroom.

The first class covers essential safety issues and familiarisation with the darkroom environment under normal lighting conditions, which lasts for the entire session. It is essential that you attend week one so you can continue the course and safely participate in all other classes, which are conducted under the darkroom safelight conditions*.

Is this course right for me?

Due to the chemicals used during the training, this course is not suitable for students who may be pregnant.

It also requires standing for protracted periods and is conducted in a very low light environment.

In this five week introductory course you will be taken from the ground up to develop a sound understanding of the photography related principles that are used in Photoshop.

You will be guided through a workflow from digital capture to the production of photographic quality prints and social media content.
This course is taught on Apple computers using industry standard colour managed monitors. Basic instruction in the use of a Mac computer is included in the course. Use of the Adobe Photoshop program is virtually identical on a Mac or PC platform.
