Student to hold Australian Cyber Week event for peers

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

7 October 2021

As part of Australian Cyber Week running from 25–29 October our Cyber Security student Hasib has organised an event for his peers to be held during the week.

The cyber security event will feature a Capture the Flag competition created by Hasib which will see students find flags hidden within a purposely vulnerable machine.

Teams will have three hours to capture eight flags with each flag requiring students to apply problem-solving, specific cyber security skills, methodologies and IT knowledge to find them.

Hasib said the event would help students network, problem solve, grow their cyber security skill set and gain relevant experience towards their cyber security careers in a comfortable TAFE setting.

"There has been a lack of this type of competition with some events getting cancelled over the past year so I wanted to help students get some experience and have fun with other students," he said.

"Hopefully it will become a regular competition each semester that students can run."

If you are interested in a career in Cyber Security, applications are now open for 2022.
