North Metropolitan TAFE (NMTAFE) is delivering a new cyber security training course to help stamp out cyber threats to WA organisations and government agencies.

Recently launched in Canberra, the new Essential Eight Assessment Course has been designed and developed by the Australian Signals Directorate (ADS)’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) in partnership with TAFEcyber, a national consortium of ten TAFE colleges focused on skilling the fast-growing cyber security workforce through education and training.

NMTAFE's four-day face-to-face program (commencing 1 September from its Perth, East Perth and Joondalup campuses) will train cyber security professionals to assess their organisation's security against eight key measures, which the ASD considers foundational for cyber security.

All Federal and State agencies and critical infrastructure organisations are being strongly encouraged to undertake the training.

Cyber security is one of the world's fastest-growing industries and one of the most important issues facing businesses, governments and individuals today. Cyber security professionals are needed in a range of sectors including finance, government and public services, military and defence, healthcare, media and telecommunications, mining and resources, and transport.

NMTAFE offers a range of free and half-price cyber security qualifications and skill sets through the State Government's FREE IN '23 program.
