Trainees from the WA Police Force’s Cadet Program are well on their way to join the police force.
- The program is a partnership between the WA Police Force and North Metropolitan TAFE (NMTAFE) to create a more accessible pathway for those who wish to become police officers.
- Last week, our Managing Director Michelle Hoad joined the trainees at their graduation ceremony at the WA Police Academy, located adjacent to our Joondalup campus.
- Of the 22 graduates, 11 completed the Aboriginal Cadet Program and 11 were culturally and linguistically diverse cadets from a range of countries.
Mentors from the WA Police Force and NMTAFE support trainees throughout their learning journey.
Our Koolark Centre provides support, encouragement and mentorship to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander trainees to help them reach their career goals.
The trainees also graduate with a nationally recognised qualification, the Certificate II in General Education from NMTAFE.
Trainees develop fantastic workplace skills under the guidance of experienced police officers and gain exposure to a range of unique policing activities to get a true taste of what it means to be part of the WA Police Force family.
The program assists trainees to gain the language, literacy and numeracy skills required to apply to the WA Police Academy as a Recruit.
