Take your jewellery design skills to the next level

The Diploma of Visual Arts (Jewellery Design) will enhance your existing design and fabrication skills. This course is taught in our extensive purpose-built facilities and specialised studios based in the creative and cultural heart of the city that is home to the Art Gallery of WA, PICA and many other smaller galleries.

There is a concentration on computer aided design and digital techniques as well as studio time and bench skills to further develop your design practice.

On completion you will be well equipped to undertake further studies or you could find work as a high end Jewellery Designer both locally and overseas, or set up your own design studio.

  • Moulding and casting techniques
  • Manually finish/polish materials and create silversmithing objects
  • Digital art techniques and creation
  • Produce a professional jewellery design and 3D object portfolio
  • Provide freelance services

Completion of WACE General or ATAR (Minimum C Grades) or equivalent Completion of WACE General or ATAR or equivalent (minimum C Grades) Certificate III

To gain admission into this course you will need to have completed Certificate IV in Design (Jewellery Studio), or equivalent (please note you may be required to submit a practical test and/or portfolio of art and design evidence).

On campus

This course requires your attendance in class for 14 hours a week, generally over 3 - 4 days per week.

At-home study

As well as the in class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 - 6 hours per week of additional study (outside of scheduled classes), including private study, assignment preparation, and research

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential.
If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.
