Build on the skills obtained in the Certificate IV in Residential Drafting

The Diploma of Building Design builds on the skills obtained in the Certificate IV in Residential Drafting and provides more drafting and design experience in Revit (CAD software) for residential and commercial small-scale building projects.

You will cover principles of energy efficient design and sustainability for design projects and occupational health and safety requirements for this booming industry.

Once you've completed this Diploma you will be able to apply your skills to diverse building design projects which may incorporate residential, commercial, public or industrial projects including new buildings and renovations.

  • Research and create client approved designs and drawings that are compliant
  • Research the best construction materials and methods for building and construction projects

Free in 2023

This course will be FREE from 1 January 2023. The course fees are 100 per cent subsidised by the WA State Government.

Completion of Certificate IV in Residential Drafting or equivalent.
OR
Demonstrated relevant vocational experience, skills and knowledge commensurate with the scope of work covered in the core units within Certificate IV in Residential Drafting.

You'll be able to access your personal timetable (find out how here), once you have paid your fees. In the meantime the information below provides an indication of the time commitment required to complete this course, depending on your study option.

On campus full-time

The typical timetable is 4 days per week.
All classes are delivered between 9:00am - 6:00pm.

On campus - reduced load 

You must have completed either 52757WA Certificate IV in Residential Building Drafting or CPP40121 Certificate IV in Residential Drafting.

Below is the order in which units need to be studied to ensure you meet the entry requirements for each unit and stage, you must complete each stage before progressing to the next stage.
All classes are delivered between 9:00am - 6:00pm.
