Are you looking for an electrical career and current skills?

When you complete the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician you'll be looking at a career as a licensed electrician (additional requirements apply).

You will gain the knowledge and practical skills to work effectively in the electrical industry.

The Certificate III in Electrotechnology is an apprenticeship, please see the Apprenticeships section for more information.

  • Install low voltage wiring
  • Switch gear and appliances
  • Arrange and connect circuits
  • Troubleshoot and repair apparatus and circuits
  • Use hand and power tools
  • Interpret drawings
  • Take electrical and electronic measurements
  • Workplace health and safety

Half-price

This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills program, through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession.

This course is an apprenticeship, you must be employed in a training contract by an appropriate organisation to study.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.

On your first day on campus you should bring your confirmation of enrolment, your student ID and stationery (pen and exercise book) in addition to textbooks and equipment set out below.

Training licence

Apprentices studying in Electrical trades will be required to hold a training licence prior to attending training.

Equipment

You will need to bring the following when attending on campus training:

  • Safety glasses
  • Safety gloves (Cut 2 Resistant)
  • Safety-cap work shoes/boots
  • A scientific calculator

Safety glasses and gloves ($10) will be stocked and available for sale (if needed) on the following campuses:

  • Balga
  • Clarkson
  • East Perth
  • Midland
Textbooks

You must also purchase the hard copy edition of the following textbooks before attending your first class:
