Learn how to collect and analyse spatial data for complex engineering structures, roads, railways and surface and underground mining operations.
Throughout this course you'll learn about the operation of sophisticated surveying equipment and software (including GPS) and the processing of survey data to produce computer aided engineering drawings and mine plans, building on the skills gained in the Diploma of Surveying.

On campus
This course requires your attendance in class for 2 days per week when studied full time.
At-home study
As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 - 6 hours of additional study each week outside of scheduled classes, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.
As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.
Additional costs include:
- Survey bond of $200 to be paid at start of course. This bond can carry over from the Diploma of Surveying and will be refunded on course completion, provided there have been no equipment breakages.
- A scientific calculator. Indicative cost (student price) for a bundled package (calculator & software) is approximately $249.00. This is a course requirement and further information regarding brand and software is provided on enrolment.
