What our clients say

Helen Wood
Jobs and Skills Centre client

I decided to go to the Joondalup Jobs and Skills Centre (JSC) one day after being referred by the friendly front office staff at North Metropolitan TAFE.

I am a 63-year-old woman who has been in the same kitchen job for 14 years and has out of date qualifications and computer skills. I was nervous to try something new as a mature aged person, but thought the JSC would be my best bet to get back into study and upskill to move into clerical work.

I spoke to a lovely lady at the JSC about improving my computer skills and she was absolutely fantastic. She took down my details even though they were closing up for the day and sent me a whole bunch of emails with resources and TAFE course information.

My interaction with the JSC gave me the motivation to attend a recent jobs expo where I secured a one day a week volunteer opportunity with the Mental Illness Fellowship of Western Australia. I cannot wait to flourish in my new role, gain clerical experience, and hopefully find full-time work in the industry through the JSC.

I plan to go back and see my JSC rep to discuss study options now that I am working and volunteering. I have since recommended the JSC to members of my congregation who are looking for work or need motivation to make a change like I did.

 Jobs and Skills Centre client

I approached the Jobs and Skills Centre (JSC) while I was studying a Certificate III in Business Administration at North Metro TAFE and looking for work in my field.

Linda at the Joondalup JSC was very helpful and took the time to go over my options with me. She opened my eyes to other avenues for my job search such as social media and online employment sites.

I was then offered assistance with applying for jobs, which involved first updating my resume and cover letter. It was awesome to have help with this and a big time-saver.

The support offered by the JSC has helped me to secure a full time administrative position with a Conquest Metal Roofing and I am really thriving in my new role.
