RPL or TSR self-assessment checklist

This form allows you to determine if Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is right for you. You should ensure you have familiarised yourself with the RPL process prior to beginning this RPL Self-Assessment.

Once you understand the RPL Process, use the RPL Self-Assessment form below to provide as much information about your previous experience as you can.

This is your first opportunity (and not the last) to provide proof of your variety of experience in your chosen industry.

If you are using this form for Trades Skills Recognition (TSR) please note the TSR process does not apply to individuals holding an overseas trade qualification – please refer to Trades Recognition Australia(opens in a new tab)  for this process.

Are you seeking recognition for:
Does the qualification relate to a Trade Certificate, or are the units related to a trade?
i.e. you would normally complete the units/qualification through an Apprenticeship pathway (you can find out whether our courses are part of an Apprenticeship from our course pages)
Are you currently employed under an apprenticeship contract?

RPL in an entire qualification is classed as Trade Skills Recognition, you must demonstrate that you have attained the required skills and competency because of employment in a relevant occupation, supplemented by other learning.

You must be able to provide evidence to demonstrate these competencies as part of the RPL Assessment.

Note if you are not currently under contract as an apprentice, you are not able to apply for RPL in individual units within an Apprenticeship Qualification.  You should check our Apprenticeships page to see the section on "How do I get an apprenticeship?".
