Midland

Corner Lloyd Street and Eddie Barron Drive, Midland WA 6056  |  Locked Bag 6, Northbridge WA 6865

Yagan, a physically imposing Whadjuk Noongar man, frequented the Midland area, the town that grew around the Midland Junction railway station in 1894.

Our Midland campus is just five minutes from Midland Station and the central shopping district, surrounded by the Blackadder and Woodbridge creeks in the hearth of Perth’s Swan Valley region.

The campus is a specialist METRONET Trades Training Centre, providing training to support the specific technical and support skills required for rail car manufacturing and METRONET maintenance.

Midland campus also features purpose built trade workshops, hairdressing salon, an operational nursery, and a conservation and land management site.

The Jobs and Skills Centres are one-stop shops for careers, training and employment advice and assistance. Services are free, and accessible to all members of the community.

Located in A Block on our Midland campus, the centre provides free professional and practical advice on training and employment opportunities including careers advice, apprenticeship and training information. Support services for employers and business, as well as specialist services for Aboriginal people, ex-offenders and people from a culturally or linguistically diverse background are also available.

For more detail and opening times, see the Jobs and Skills Centres(opens in a new tab) page.

Our METRONET Trades Training Centre is working with METRONET, the Public Transport Authority and key project stakeholders to develop specific training to ensure workers are skilled to support the construction and maintenance phases of the project.

For more information, see our METRONET and Civil Infrastructure page.

Our specialist metals and engineering centre focuses on new technologies and integrating these across traditional trades.

Students learn high speed, precision operations in a safe environment on a range of various programmable automated equipment. They’re exposed to computer controlled machining technology and they’ll gain skills in industrial robotics and component design using current industry standard computer-aided design.

We are also an industry leader in delivery of fluid power training.

We are the only state training provider of signcrafts training in WA.

Students have access to the Flecknoe Thermoform/Vacuumform training machine which can produce the type of illuminated sign you’d see outside your typical fast-food outlet (amongst other things). The machine is worth almost $80,000 and virtually 100% Australian made, using agile, innovative Australian design concepts.

Why not do something for yourself while supporting our students?

Our hairdressing salon located in C Block, is open to students and members of the public.

You can get your hair done by our students for a reduced rate. Find out more on our Life at NMTAFE page.

The Edition Café at Midland offers a large, tasty variety of fresh hot and cold food and drinks, including coffee.
