Entry into Care Roles Skill Set

This skill set is free for everyone

The CHCSS00114 Entry Into Care Roles skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to provide entry level support and basic client care for a range of roles and purposes within the aged care and disability support sectors.

The support provided in client care will be predominantly non-direct. The skill set is comprised of the following units.

*You must be 18 yrs old or over to enrol in this skill set.

Different delivery options will be available across the campuses including block delivery and a range of times and schedules.
Training at Midland campus is likely to be run on Wednesdays from 9:30am - 2:30pm for 10 weeks. Please apply online.

Orientation sessions for this skill set will be held on Wednesday 29 July at Mount Lawley and Midland campuses.

High Support and Complex Care - Disability Skill Set

Provide high level care and support in an disability care setting

This skill set is suited for those working with clients with high support and complex care needs.  You'll gain a range of strategies and skills to support and care for clients. 
You'll also be equipped with additional skills to help you assess and identify the care needs of residents.  Understanding the importance of risk factors and potential impact on a resident is a key component to the skill set, along with strategies to minimize and monitor interventions.

This skill set is free for everyone

This COVID-19 Direct Care skill set was developed in consultation with WA employers in the aged care and disability services sectors and the Community Services, Health and Education Training Council. It contains three units of competency chosen to get you job ready for entry-level employment.

Support people with disability to reach their potential and live an independent life

On completion of this course you could find work in a variety of settings such as residential, individual support, employment, recreational/day support, advocacy and case management. You'll gain real industry experience and apply your training in a meaningful way though a supervised work placement.

Work placement

As part of this course you will complete a 120 hour supervised work placement in a facility providing services to disabled clients. Before you start work placement you will need to obtain a police clearance (approx. $72). 

Important information

It is strongly recommended that you see your doctor about having a flu vaccination.

Typical Timetable

Full-time - 3 days per week on campus for 15 weeks followed by 4 week full-time industry placement.
Part-time - 1 day per week on campus for 3 terms and the a full-time placement.
Please note NMT also offers a partnership program with industry - 5 weeks intensive on campus program followed by 2 days per week industry placement plus 1 day per week on campus for the remainder of the semester.
