This skill set was developed in consultation with WA employers in the aged care and disability services sectors and the Community Services, Health and Education Training Council to get you job ready for entry-level employment.

Allied Health Assistance - Podiatry Skill Set

This skill set is intended for those who have completed a Health related Certificate III (or higher) qualification.  You may be already working in a health care setting or wanting to enter the industry.

Important information

This skill set has a practical work placement consisting of a 120 hours. 
Placement requires either:

  • a minimum three weeks of full-time (40 hour week) practical placement
  • or by individual arrangement

You'll also need to provide evidence of:

  • Working With Children Check
  • National Police Clearance

Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance

The Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance is appropriate for new or Certificate III qualified allied health assistants who wish to further develop their professional skills. You'll be working under the delegation of the qualified professional in a rich variety of settings to promote participation in and achievement of functional independence in activity.

Entrance Requirements

 

You do not need to have completed a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance first but some students may find this beneficial especially if you are returning to study after a long break or upon leaving high school. If you enjoy working with people, have strong communication/ interpersonal skills and believe you have the ability to study at a certificate IV level it may be possible for you to enter this course.

Work placement

In addition to the 16 units this course includes a 120 hour practical placement. This is six weeks of full-time work placement which North Metropolitan TAFE organises for you.

Important information

Some employers require Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance as a minimum for employment, especially those where home visiting and acute rehabilitation programs involve more complex clients and less frequent supervision by health professionals.
