Before attending your work placement you will be required to obtain:

  • Working with Children Check
  • Department of Education Police Clearance

Under 18 students will be required to obtain a Confidential Statutory Declaration.

Work placement

As part of this qualification you will undertake a supervised work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned in a classroom setting.

When you complete the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) you will be on a pathway to develop a career in the rewarding field of disability work. How to apply

Work placement

As part of this course you will complete a 120 hour supervised work placement in a facility providing services to disabled clients. Before you start work placement you will need to obtain a police clearance (approx. $72). 

Important information

It is strongly recommended that you see your doctor about having a flu vaccination.

Typical Timetable

Full-time - 3 days per week on campus for 15 weeks followed by 4 week full-time industry placement.
Part-time - 1 day per week on campus for 3 terms and the a full-time placement.
Please note NMT also offers a partnership program with industry - 5 weeks intensive on campus program followed by 2 days per week industry placement plus 1 day per week on campus for the remainder of the semester.

In this course you will learn how to design, implement and evaluate health and leisure activities for clients across the community services sector. You may work with clients who are aged, who have disabilities or those who present with the need for additional support in the leisure/social/recreation area.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

If you are keen to share your knowledge with students in a vocational education and training (VET) setting, this Certificate IV course will equip you to work as a vocational trainer, workplace assessor or lecturer.

Entrance Requirements

You must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency.

Important information

Please note you will not be able to complete the entire qualification if you cannot prove:

  • Vocational competency in your proposed area of teaching and assessing.
  • That you have access, or you have arranged to have access, to real VET students undertaking nationally accredited training. This could either be within a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or a Secondary School VET program.
