This Mining Field Operations skill set will help you gain the skills and knowledge needed to  live, work, and operate in the field.  You'll also cover the safety and communication requirements for employment in the resources sector.

The units included in this skill set are delivered in two groups or clusters:

Mining safety cluster (2 hours per week)

  • RIIWHS201D Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
  • RIIRIS201D Conduct local risk control
  • RIICOM201D Communicate in the workplace

Mining field logistics cluster (5 hours per week)

  • RIIENV201D Identify and assess an environmental and heritage concerns
  • RIIEGS201D Operate in isolated and remote situations
  • RIIEGS302D Plan and undertake field trip
  • RIIENG305D Navigate in remote or trackless areas

To provide you with the best chance of finding a job in the mining industry we recommend that you undertake this skill set concurrently with North Metropolitan TAFE's RII30515-SS-B Geological Assistant skill set and to further increase your employability we suggest that you complete the two day 4WD driving course North Metro offers (RII305115-SS-A Operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle).
