Learn Japanese

Welcome to North Metropolitan TAFE’s Japanese language and culture courses.
With more sister cities established in both countries, the demand for Japanese language skills in business and hospitality and tourism industries is increasing. In addition, banking, finance and security companies are rapidly increasing their requirements for Japanese and English speaking staff due to the restructuring of the economic system in Japan. Whether you want to learn Japanese to enhance your effectiveness at work, to make your holiday trip more fulfilling or simply for the joy of learning about a new language and culture, we welcome you to our classes and wish you enjoyment and success.

If you are interested in studying a leisure short course please send an email to shortcourse@nmtafe.wa.edu.au with the course details.

We offer five conversational course levels, the content covered at each level is:
•    Japanese Beginners Stage 1 - This is a general introduction to the language, its sound and writing system and some general information on the countries in which it is spoken
•    Japanese Beginners Stage 2 - This continues on from Beginners Stage 1
•    Japanese Beginners Stage 3 - This course is a direct continuation of Beginners Stage 2. Words and phrases learned are revised and extended to new situation, and more cultural information on the countries added

•    Japanese Advanced - In this course participants revise, practice and extend vocabulary, structures and cultural information learned in previous course
Note: Wherever possible, the course is tailored to meet the needs and interests of the group. Therefore, some variations to course may occur
