Guiding Skill Set

State ID: SIT30316-SS-A

Share your passion and knowledge of our culture and attractions with others after completing this Guiding skill set.

According to Tourism WA, the year ending December 2017 saw 19.3 million intrastate daytrips taken within WA and 10.6 million overnight (domestic and international) visitors came to or travelled within WA and these visitors spent over $9 billion in the State.
This provides you with many career opportunities if you love working with tourists.  North Metropolitan TAFE's Guiding Skill Set will equip you to work as a guide in many tourism industry sectors.

You'll have a hands on opportunity to plan and carry out tour activities and commentaries and experience what a real life tour guide goes through with all the planning, problem solving and excitement required to lead a group.
So if you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others and gain satisfaction in showing clients new places and cultures, you will find career opportunities in a variety of tourism related businesses after completing this course.

As a tour guide you could be talking to people from all walks of life on buses, boats, caves or buildings and discussing culture through to natural wonders.
Guides at this level usually work in particular areas or sites, including attractions, cultural and heritage sites, tourist precincts, marine and national parks, wineries, on day or extended bus tours, walking tours or cruise vessels.
