Guten Tag…Willkommen am North Metropolitan TAFE

It’s a great idea that you want to learn German! Not only is it a relatively easy language to learn because it is so similar to English, it is also one of the most useful languages to know if you want to go to Europe to work or travel.
Some 100 million people in Europe speak it as their first language and many others as their first second language (especially in Eastern Europe which is particularly interesting and fascinating with its ancient and recently re-opened cities like Prague and Budapest, Riga and Tallin).
German is also the primary language for banking and finance and of course, as everyone knows, Germans are great travellers with Australia being a most popular tourist destination.

Course content

The content covered at each level we offer is:

  • German Beginners Stage 1 - This is a general introduction to the language and culture, German speaking countries, pronunciation and sentence structure,  differences between English and German and starting with basic conversation.
  • German Beginners Stage 2 - We build on basic knowledge of German.  This course is designed to be highly interactive between students and is conversation focused, with increased knowledge of how to form German sentences, ask and respond, using present and past tense.

Note: Wherever possible, the course is tailored to meet the needs and interests of the group. Therefore, some variations to course may occur
