An introduction to drawing

This course is an introduction to basic approaches and materials used in drawing. It is intended to give beginners a foundation to work from, as well as a refresher course for those who already have some skills and experience.
The aim is help you develop your: drawing skills; hand-eye co-ordination; observation of shape and tone; understanding of structure via linear perspective; experience of different approaches to drawing; and exploration of your own creativity.

You'll be introduced to exercises in: still-life; linear perspective; portraits; expression and life-drawing. 
The range of materials includes pencils, charcoal, ink and papers.

Topics covered in the course may include:
•    Still life drawing: still life objects; charcoal, graphite, ink; emphasis on form, light and shade
•    Portraits: heads and faces; pencil and charcoal; emphasise on proportion and tone
•    Life-drawing: nude or draped model; pencil and charcoal; emphasis on proportion and tone

•    There are no requirements for this course
Dress requirements
•    Participants must wear enclosed shoes e.g. sneakers or leather type shoes

What to Bring
For this course you will need to bring:
•    All basic materials for drawing (paper, charcoal, ink, pencils, and erasers) will be supplied during the class.  You are welcome to bring along any further drawing materials that you already have and would like to explore in the class.
