This short course will help you gain the fundamentals of networking in a customised, small group, Cisco lab environment.

The CCNA1 version 6.0 Introduction to Networking introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the internet and other computer networks.

 Whether you are trying to gain an entry level position in a network engineering role or improve your employability skills, this course can help you on your way to CCENT certification.

Further study (CCNA 2 & 3, also offered at North Metro TAFE), CCNA2 will be required to achieve this certification.

You'll have small class sizes with instructor led delivery from start to finish and access to all of Cisco's NetSpace resources and materials for CCNA as well as allocation of CCNA lab equipment for home use. On successful completion of this course you will receive a Statement of Attainment for ICTNWK404 Install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network; ICTTEN416 - Install, configure and test an internet protocol network and ICTTEN417 - Install, configure and test a router.

Course Outline

  • Networking fundamentals
  • IPv4 and IPv6 math and sub-netting
  • Basic networking hardware configuration

This is an intensive course designed for students, currently working in industry or with industry experience and you have the opportunity to complete our range of CCNA courses within a year.  It is recommended you start with CCNA1 however if you have extensive industry experience you can commence at any course.
 
Depending on your level of experience and knowledge you will be required to study approximately 4-6 hours per week per module, to complete the 70 hours of study which is recommended by Cisco for each module.   

During your studies you will have access to our Cisco Hardware lab at our East Perth campus providing you with the opportunity to work and configure live routers and switches.

There will be two exams held in week 9 and 10
·        Final exam; and
·        Skills based assessment (in Cisco lab).

These Cisco Certification exams are booked through Pearson VUE independently from your studies above.
