Do you want to learn new techniques?

This is a follow-on sewing course from those who have completed the Beginner Sewing short course or already have basic sewing and cutting skills. During this short course you will learn new techniques and skills. Building confidence with new skills such as flat felled seams, French seams, darks and zip closures. 

Course outline
Topics covered in this course include:
•    Construct Unisex Pyjama Shirt continuing on from project covered in Beginner 1
•    Incorporate new technique such as button holes, button stand, interfacing, patch pockets, sleeve and collar construction.
•    Construct an apron
•    Build Sewing technique file of seams and finishes
Course requirements
•    Must know how to thread a sewing machine and wind cotton to a bobbin
•    Able to confidently cut patterns and sew basic sewing seams
Dress requirements
•    Participants must wear enclosed shoes e.g. sneakers or leather type shoes
•    Long hair must be tied back and any long accessories must be removed when working on the machines

What to Bring
Please do not purchase any items until your course has been confirmed
In the first session, the lecturer will advise you of the quantity and type of fabrics that you will need to purchase for week 2 (tote bag and pencil case) and week 3 (your sewing project) 
From week two you will also need to bring along:
•    Tape Measure (the soft flexible type)
•    Fabric Marker
•    Quick Pick
•    Berry headed pins
•    Hand sewing needles
•    Dressmaking scissor
•    General paper scissors
•    Pen, pencil, ruler, eraser and display book for notes
•    A box or container or bag to keep items in
•    Steel thimble (optional)
•    Needle Threader (optional)
•    Wrist pincushion (optional)
