FREE Skills Application

Once we have received your application, we will assess your eligibility and provide you with further instructions for enrolment. 

 

Please note the following skill sets are currently full so applications will be considered for Term 4

  • Business Ready Skill Set (Fee Free)
  • Customer Service Skill Set (Fee Free)
  • Operating a Small Business Skill set

 

 

Who is eligible for free job ready skill sets?

Our job ready skill sets are available to everyone, and 100% free for the following eligible students.   

  • Persons aged 15—24 years at the time of enrolment (excluding school students)
  • Secondary school-aged persons who are not enrolled at school
  • Persons receiving the JobSeeker or JobKeeper payment
  • Persons and dependents of persons receiving the Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY
  • Persons and dependents of persons holding: 
    • a pensioner concession card or Health Care Card; or
    • a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans' Affairs
  • Dependents of persons who are inmates of a custodial institution

Course and resource fees will apply for non-eligible students.

These three skill sets are free for everyone.

  • COVID-19 Direct Care skill set (Fee free)
  • Enrty into Care Roles skill set
  • Operating a Small Business skill set (Fee free)

To be eligible, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • In receipt of the JobSeeker and JobKeeper payments (or any replacement schemes put in place by the Commonwealth Government to support unemployed persons).
  • Entitled to the Concession rate.
  • Aged 15 to 24 years.

Please note Students will be required to provide evidence of the above eligibility.

Your USI is a 10 digit number. Please note that enrolments are unable to be processed without a USI. You can create or retrieve your USI at www.usi.gov.au
If you have previously studied at North Metropolitan TAFE, please provide your Student ID if known.
Proof of eligibilty
Please provide one piece of evidence that you meet the fee free eligibility requirements.

Acceptable proof may include:

  • 15 – 24 years of age – birth certificate, drivers licence, or other government document that proves age such as passport, proof of age card
  • JobSeeker or JobKeeper payment – letter from employer, Centrelink, bank statement showing payment
  • Concession cards - Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY, a pensioner concession card or Health Care Card; or a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans' Affairs
  • Temporary visa showing sub-class 309, 444, 785,790,820, 826 or secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 457 holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790

Concession cards must be valid, and must have a start date on or before commencement of the course.
