Scores of visitors headed to Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre this past weekend for the SkillsWest Expo 2022, WA’s largest careers and employment expo.

High school students from across WA, parents, teachers, graduates, job seekers and members of the public had the opportunity to chat about course and study options with NMTAFE staff and seek career guidance and support from our Jobs and Skills Centres.  An AMEP representative also presented three seminars on Skills for Education and Employment (SEE).

Visitors also enjoyed the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of interactive activities with our 26 Try’aSkill stations, including driving autonomous remote control trucks across a mini mine site, flexing their fashion skills on our collaborative knitted loom, testing their welding skills on our virtual welder, competing with mates in our fitness challenge, and many more!

Minister for Education and Training Sue Ellery also attended the event, sitting down with our very own student radio station BOOM Radio for an interview and taking part in a Harry Potter style wand battle with our IT Programming students.

"The expo provides a window into the incredible array of careers, jobs and training opportunities on offer, as well as the practical support available to help Western Australians of all ages and backgrounds access training and jobs,” she said.
