We’re excited to announce the completion of our $21.3 million specialist Electric Automotive Vehicle Training Centre at our Joondalup (Kendrew Crescent) campus.
This week, we were joined by Premier Hon. Roger Cook MLA, Hon. Simone McGurk MLA, Minister for Training and Workforce Development, Emily Hamilton MLA, Jessica Stojkovski MLA and Mark Folkard MLA, to open the new state-of-the-art training centre.
They also met with students who are now training in the maintenance of electric and hybrid vehicles (EVs) and automotive pre-apprenticeship students.
The centre boasts a significant $1.5 million investment in new industry-standard training equipment including EVs, car hoists, diagnostics and simulator training systems.
The facility also includes space for up to nine vehicles and three technical labs equipped with modern training systems and automotive accessories.
Hon. Simone McGurk MLA, Minister for Training and Workforce Development said technology is changing the automotive industry.
"New and emerging technologies in the automotive industry, aligned with the global transition to net zero, are changing the skills required by its future workforce - and the training we are delivering through TAFE.”
"The clean energy sector offers exciting, well-paying and long-lasting jobs, and the great news is that many of these jobs will build on the existing skills of professionals already working in the industries such as the automotive sector.”
NMTAFE are offering two nationally recognised electric vehicle skill sets, for automotive workers to enhance their skills and knowledge to meet industry demands.
