Two of our students have been selected in the 2025 Australian Football League Women’s (AFLW) national draft, with both Olivia Wolmarans and Mia Russo hearing their names called on one of football’s biggest nights.
Olivia made history as the number one draft pick and will be moving to Melbourne. She was selected by Richmond, after finishing her Certificate II in Sport at North Metropolitan TAFE (NMTAFE). Her elite athletic ability comes from her previous heptathlon career, which took a backseat to pursue football, resulting in a remarkable rise through the WAFLW pathway.
Mia also continues to make WA proud, securing her place with the West Coast Eagles after completing her Certificate III in Fitness last year. Balancing study with elite-level sport is no easy task, and Mia’s achievement reflects her determination both on and off the field.
