Fee reductions for existing childcare workers

12 October 2021

The Western Australian Government has expanded its JobTrainer Fund with more reduced fee places available for existing worker traineeships in the childcare industry.

Existing worker traineeships provide on the job training, and low fee places allow workers to upskill and gain qualifications in the workplace.

We have a limited number of reduced fee training places for existing worker traineeships now open for applications in the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

The JobTrainer Fund and lower fees is a response to industry feedback to meet the training needs in childcare as well as aged and disability care and civil construction.

The childcare sector has an urgent need to upskill existing workers to meet the sector’s mandatory accreditation requirements for a qualified workforce.

Applying reduced fees to existing worker traineeships will help these workers in childcare while employees also benefit from the opportunity to obtain formal qualifications.

The program is funded under the expanded JobTrainer Fund agreement with the Commonwealth Government, which will result in Western Australia receiving an additional $51.8 million.
