Scott Dixon series of images of man with beard

North Metropolitan TAFE (NMTAFE) photography students have once again achieved outstanding results at the Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA) run by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP).

  • The APPAs are the largest awards for professional print photography in Australia. Each year professional photographers from around Australia enter for their chance to win a coveted category title.
  • Students are encouraged to enter their work, which is mixed in with the work of professionals. Our Advanced Diploma of Photography student, Scott Dixon, was named as the Australian Photography Student of the Year at the event.
  • NMTAFE was also awarded the title of AIPP Tertiary Photography Institution of the Year for the third consecutive year.

Competition was tough at this year’s awards, with 57 students from 11 colleges across Australia entering into the Australian Photography Student of the Year category.

NMTAFE students dominated in this award category, with the winner and all finalists from the college.

Our photography student Scott Dixon, won the student category at the event with his portrait series. His classmates Dijana Jovanvic, who submitted macro insect shots, and Fiona Birt, who showcased her street photography, were finalists in the same category.
