Celebrating Perth’s new graphic design talent

Our Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design graduation show ‘Even Odds’ wowed the Perth design community last week.

  • Gallery Central was transformed with the Even Odds brand of charming patterns and punchy colours for the event.
  • All 35 graduating graphic designers displayed their work to representatives from the design industry which featured digital design, illustration, branding, typography and packaging.
  • The exhibition is open to the public at Gallery Central, ending on Saturday 14 December.

The group of graduating students describe themselves as, ‘made up of oddballs, misfits and characters of all sorts we believe in celebrating our differences together. Our diversity is what defines us and brings us together for the love of design.’ This description is what inspired the name Even Odds.  Students.jpg

North Metropolitan TAFE graphic design lecturer Brendan Hibbert said the group’s diversity reflected in their designs.

“True to their self-description, Even Odds proved to be one of the most diverse groups of fresh designers, not only in strong personalities, but with a wide range of contemporary skills,” he said.

“They approached all set tasks with gusto and passion right up to the last minute, taking on a giant painted mural, the largest ever undertaken at Gallery Central, with a can do attitude. They didn’t give up and showed great camaraderie.”

Stand-out graduates were recognised with awards on the night, industry judges had a very challenging task choosing award winners due to the high calibre of students.
