Enhance your existing welding skills or learn new techniques

North Metropolitan TAFE offers courses to train you in the use of TIG or gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) processes. You'll gain professional techniques to work with a variety of ferrous and non ferrous materials so you can manufacture and assemble projects in carbon steel, aluminium and stainless steel.

You'll start with recognising hazards, the safe use of the welding equipment and welding terminology and defects.  You will receive demonstrations and guidance on correct technique to develop your skills. 

Dress requirements

You will be required to wear personal protective clothing/equipment at all times which includes steel capped safety boots, clear safety glasses, long drill cotton pants and cotton drill long sleeve shirt. You will also be required to supply your own TIG welding gloves, CLEAR face shield (for grinding) and Welding Helmet (can be Dual Shield).
