If you are an Enrolled Nurse who is currently working in a health care environment, you can gain the skills required to administer medicines and intravenous therapy by completing this skill set which covers Nationally Accredited unit HLTENN007 Administer and monitor medicines and intravenous therapy. This comprehensive unit covers all aspects of medication administration including a variety of methods; oral, otic, ocular, topical, rectal, vaginal, enteral, subcutaneous (subcut), intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV) injection and infusion via a PIVC and blood and blood products, amongst others. The unit consists of online theory and a series of workshops, simulated assessments and workplace competencies.
Any registered enrolled nurse may enrol in the unit; there are no prerequisites and no need for specific experience (full unit enrolment). There are different entry points if you already have the formal qualifications and experience in administering some medications (partial unit enrolment).
