Gain the skills and confidence to take your photography to new heights

Have you recently bought a drone and now want to learn how to capture better photographs and video from a unique birdseye view of the world? Then join the photography team at North Metropolitan TAFE's leading photography training facility. 

You will be introduced to the fundamentals of drones, photography and video using some of the latest technologies and facilities. Practice your camera and video flying skills in one of Perth's only indoor training facilities before venturing to more scenic locations. You will also be introduced to the post-production skills required to enhance your photography and video.

Drones are supplied or you can bring your own drone to fine tune and practice on.

The course is delivered over six weeks and includes the following topics: 

  • Drone laws and Safety 
  • Drone types and technology 
  • Creative and compositional skills 
  • Locations and Lighting 
  • Photography and Video fundamentals including:
    • Exposure 
    • Histograms
    • Frame rates
    • Shutter speed
    • Resolution 
  • Cinematic and video flying techniques
  • Adjusting your drone and camera for the best results
  • Introduction image post-production using Adobe Lightroom and Camera Raw
  • Introduction video post-production – edit, adjust, and export. 

Please note Saturday or Sunday morning attendance will be required for the course's on-location flying component.
