By completing one of North Metropolitan TAFE’s hairdressing courses, you will gain the skills and knowledge to create unique hairstyles, making people look and feel confident with their hairdo. 

Our programs provide hands-on, practical experience to ensure you develop the skills in coordinating and training staff, technical leadership, specialised hair design and cutting, colouring and colour correction, hair extensions, scalp treatments and chemical reformation.  You will also learn modern salon operations, including selling products and services, client consultation and advice, supervising junior staff, reception duties, financial transactions and safe work practices.

Gain the skills you need to carve out a career in barbering

If you want to help people look and feel their best, successful completion of this qualification will provide you with the technical skills and knowledge required to work as a barber. You'll learn the essentials needed to work in the men's grooming industry.

A creative career that's a cut above the rest

When you successfully complete the Certificate III in Hairdressing you will have the practical skills and knowledge to work in a salon as a qualified hairdresser. You will also learn skills to operate a cash register and computer, perform reception duties such as answering telephone calls, making appointments, and write up client record cards.
