German Beginners Stage 1

State ID: SC-PLS-C2051

Guten Tag…Willkommen am North Metropolitan TAFE

It’s a great idea that you want to learn German! Not only is it a relatively easy language to learn because it is so similar to English, it is also one of the most useful languages to know if you want to go to Europe to work or travel.

Some 100 million people in Europe speak it as their first language and many others as their first second language (especially in Eastern Europe which is particularly interesting and fascinating with its ancient and recently re-opened cities like Prague and Budapest, Riga and Tallin).
German is also the primary language for banking and finance and of course, as everyone knows, Germans are great travellers with Australia being a most popular tourist destination.

This is a general introduction to the language and culture, German speaking countries, pronunciation and sentence structure,  differences between English and German and starting with basic conversation. There are no prerequisites and wherever possible, the course is tailored to meet the needs and interests of the group.
