An introduction to a career in engineering drafting
In this skill set you'll learn about computer aided design (CAD), technical drawings, free hand sketches, and engineering measurements. There will be guest lecturers and you will undertake a practical work placement where you will learn on the job and be able to put the skills and knowledge you have learned into practice.
After successfully completing First Steps in Engineering Drafting you can continue your studies, as the units will provide credit towards MEM30505 Certificate III in Engineering - Technical.
Selected students will be given the opportunity of paid work experience at renowned Civil and Structural Design Engineering firm, BG&E’S Perth office where they will be able to put new skills and knowledge into practice. See BG&E flyer (1 MB) (PDF document).
This skill set will be FREE for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are successful in gaining a place.
- 17 years of age minimum
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
- Have attended school up to year 10
- Interested in engineering or engineering drafting.
This course will run for 10 weeks, 3 days a week.
