Support people with dementia

This skill set is most suited to those who are wanting to build on their knowledge and skills to support clients with dementia.  If you are working in the aged and/or community care environment this is a great opportunity to develop your skills and provide a mentoring/leadership role in dementia care and management in your organisation.

North Metro TAFE has strong industry relationships and a great team of current and engaging lecturers to support you through your learning journey.

Delivery is a mix of online and on campus practical laboratory and simulated assessment sessions. Online learning will be supported by collaboration sessions and you will be required to attend our Mt Lawley campus on three days.

Successful completion of this skill set will provide you with credit towards CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support.

 

  • Strategies to support clients with dementia
  • Manage behaviour of clients with dementia
  • Support clients in the community.

This skill set is recommended for those that are working in the aged and community services sector.

It is recommeneded you have:

  • A qualification at Certificate III level or higher in an area involving provision of direct client care or support; or
  • Skills equivalent to the qualification requirement validated through a recognition of prior learning process; or
  • Substantial industry experience, on the job training and development along with supervisor assessment of capacity.

This skill set will be delivered over ten weeks, in workshops run every second Wednesday.

Workshops will take place on 7 & 21 October, 4 & 18 November and 2 December.
