Are you unsure how to get your rail career On-Track? 

This course will provide you with skills to engage in the basic operations within the rail infrastructure environment. It involves undertaking a range of tasks involving known routines and procedures and taking some responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.

You'll focus on track work and learn onsite in our METRONET Trades Training Centre - a simulated rail yard located on the Midland Campus.

On successful completion you could pursue employment as a track worker, installer or maintainer.

  • Identify hazards and work safely within the rail corridor 
  • Identify railway layouts, features and components 
  • Care and use of hand tools and minor mechanical  equipment in the rail environment
  • Measure, mark up and cut and install rail 
  • Install railway sleepers and fastenings.

  • Methodical eye for detail
